2010 Fashion Trends Office Wear for Women

More: Office Wear Office Fashion for Women 2010 Fashion Spring 2010 Fashion
Wanting to wear modern, trendy clothing is perfectly normal. Sometimes, however, the hottest fashion trend of the season does not look right in the office. The year 2010 is going to have as many wild and beautiful clothing options as past years have seen. All of the designs promise to be interesting, but not all will be suited for the office.

2010 fashions are going to run from one extreme to the other with micro mini skirts and cigarette leg pants on one end of the spectrum. Long, flowing, ultra feminine skirts and pants with legs that almost float around the legs when walking are on the other end of the spectrum. Patterns like delicate florals and masculine stripes that would not traditionally be paired are showing up together.

Expect to see a lot more ruffles in 2010 than recent past years have seen but the pink trend is less prominent, at least for spring. The 2010 hues are more somber and nature inspired. The reds are the shade of a ripe pomegranate and the florals are dusky with a lot of purples, deep greens, and soft blues.

To bring these fashion trends to the office think of combining the professional parts of the trends with the ultra feminine. Look for suit jacket details like 3/4 length sleeves that hug the arms, Crisp lapels that are no more than about 3 inches wide are just right to hold the over sized silk flowers that are so hot this year. The look should be very tailored on pieces that are traditional office wear.

If you want to wear a gray suit with pants pair it up with a soft floral shirt that gives a flash of color and pin an over sized gray flower on the lapel. If the flower is really large pin it on the front of the bodice so it lays over the lapel and rests almost on the shoulder. The flower being the same color as the rest of the suit is an interesting and attractive accessory. It creates a monochromatic look that stands out because it combines the delicate nature of a flower with the somber gray of the suit.

If short skirts or cigarette leg pants are acceptable in your office, and you have the legs for them, pair them up with a jacket or shirt that has over sized shoulders. Think of both shoulder pads and ruffled sleeves here. The contrast balances the look of the outfit. As a note of caution: if you are in doubt about the length of the skirt being acceptable it is best to check the office dress code before investing in a mini skirt for work.

Accessories like purses and jewelry going to be understated except for the occasional chunky bracelet or necklace. If you go with a chunky piece look for ones made of natural materials or at least in nature inspired hues.

Chunky soled wedge shoes are also back from the '70's so if you are not a fan of the "as usual" high stiletto heel you have an option this year that is actually cute and reasonably comfortable. Shoes and accessories are an easy way to update an outfit you already have so if you only want to invest in 1 or 2 new pieces consider your accessories first.
